We watched the movie Coraline. The setting is at Coraline's new apartment that her family moves into in order to continue in their job. Coraline is bored with her life and thrives for adventure, she gets angry when her mother won't do what she wants, like buy her a pair of gloves she likes or decorate her room the way she wants. One day in the living room of the apartment, she finds a small trap-door that is hidden in the living room behind a layer of wallpaper. Her mother opens the door, only to find that there is a layer of brick wall behind the door.
Later that night Coraline opens the door again, and finds an alternate universe where her parents love her and do whatever she wants to do. Her "other mother" gives her yummy food, cool clothes, and whatever she desires. Coraline visits the alternate world each night and thinks it is all fun and games, until it turns horrible. The other parents want Coraline to stay in the alternate universe forever, and sew buttons into her eyes so she can match the alternate world where everyone else has buttons for eyes instead of real eyes.
The main purpose of the film is to say "You don't know what you have until it's gone" because even though Coraline hated her parents and how they act, she begins to realize how much they mean to her when the alternate universe goes bad. Her parents vanish one day, and it is up to her to save them before it is too late, and she has to stay in her alternate world forever. The theme being "love conquers all" she realizes she loves her parents more than she thinks.
I loved the animation of the movie. It was very well done, and Tim Burton's screenplay is very good. The way the characters move, act, think, and speak make the movie all the more realistic. The background music fits the music theme and made the creepy moments creepy, and the happy moments happy.

There Goes the Neighborhood
This haunted house was inspired by one of my old neighbors. When I was a little girl, I grew up next door to the really creepy neighbors that nobody hung out with. They were never invited to social events, and never came out of their house. The tree in their yard was so overgrown it was about to grow onto our yard. They had 2 black kitties who roamed the street at night, creepiest thing ever. A fence led into their yard, and a beautiful garden flourished out back even though the front yard looked a mess. One day they moved out, and left the kitties on the property while cobwebs grew and caution tape locked up every window. I'm still convinced there was a bloody handprint in the window somewhere.........

Car
Making the car was very difficult. Since I am not a fan of cars, this project didn't interest me much. I added a vector mask on what parts i added to the one car, and changed Hue/Saturation colors to make it pink.

Magazine Covers
I didn't have many thoughts about making the second edition of my magazine. I wanted to do sort of a funny magazine, so I took the photos off the internet of some girls from the color guard.

Magazine Cover Senior Designer
These are a few of the images that were inspiration to the magazine cover. The one on the very top was the cartoon girl with a flag, and I used the magic wand tool and various brushes to re-color it (see bottom photo) so that it matches the guard theme. In the new version it is wearing a form of our tribal costumes and the flag represents colors in our show theme. I cut the girl and the rifle out of the bottom photo. It is a girl tossing a rifle in the air and part of the color guard aspect. The forest made the perfect background seeing as we're a tribe so it looks like we're in a forest or jungle of sorts.
Magazine Cover
I really enjoyed creating this magazine cover. I am on the color guard here at Viera, and I feel like sometimes we are under-appericiated. I cut out and pasted the photos of my two friends on guard with me, I felt it would be better if I knew them personally instead of a random guard. Since this year's marching show theme is the elements and we're all 'tribal' I had cut out a drawing of a guard girl with a flag. I used the magic wand and various brushes to re-color it so the girl looks like she is wearing a tribal costume and spinning a flag with our show. The four colors on the flag represent parts of our show. The red colors for fire, blue for water, gray for storm, and green for earth. I feel I could have a career in creating magazine covers this was very fun and simple.

Branding your team
I loved making a logo for the teams. I used the magic wand tool and brush to color in the taco with the team's chosen color scheme. Using the brushes i also painted some arms and legs into the taco. I found a happy face online and colored it in to fit the color of the taco shell instead of human skin color. I had to change the color of the eyes to fit the scheme and also make green arms and legs because one of the requirements was only three colors.

Comic Strip
to be truthful, i did not enjoy this project. The tools were a bit hard to use and i found difficulty in painting with the brush tools. Using the magic wand made it simple, i could use the brush tools on the selected portion without coloring over the entire comic. I enjoyed painting the background although i could not get my details exact.

Eddie and Space Ship
ATTENTION! DONKEY SIGHTING ON THE MOON ON SEPTEMBER 16TH, 2013! THE HUBBLE TELESCOPE HAS TAKEN A PHOTO. DONKEY IS BELIEVED TO BE NAMED EDDIE. Ha Ha just joking. I had a lot of fun giving Eddie a space craft, the photo was actually a toy model and I re-sized it and cropped out the background so it looks like a real space craft. I experimented with the hue and saturation levels and gave the photo a sepia look.

Eddie on the Moon
With the sane as putting the barn on the field, this project was very easy and fun. I used the brush tools and added a mask to the barn so I could blend the bottom into the moon surface, and just the same as the last one I used a brush and mask to fade Eddie into the doorway.

Eddie the Donkey
I loved doing the Eddie the donkey project. The tutorial videos were easy to follow along, and the barn looks great! I learned a lot about using masks and various brush tools, and some new commands in the keyboard. The videos talked about changing the color and hues of the grass and I think its pretty cool! Trying out the magetic Lasso tool was fun and I will use a magnetic Lasso more often. I really enjoyed this project and I am loving photo shop so far.

Movie Poster Creative Designer
I put my face onto Kat Dennings for this creative designer xp, I used the eraser tool to blend my hair and skin to look like I was on her body (Did a horrible job though) It is so funny and I am going to practice using the eraser tool more.
Movie Poster re-edited
This is still the same poster mainly, but for the senior designer XP the job was to add another character. I have added Jaimie Alexander (Sif) into the poster. In the photo she is holding up her fighting knife and wearing some sort of cloak.
Movie Poster
Even though we've only done 3 projects so far, this is my favorite. It really got into the photo shop part of the class, slightly more advanced than using any old brush tool. Making the movie poster is really cool and I've always wanted to do it! I have photo shop at my house, so I am scheming a poster I can make for one of my favorite books that is becoming a movie in May 2014. I really want to make more movie posters!

Collage, Personality, and Color Theory Project
When doing the collage, I was very excited. I went online and chose a lot of photos relating to what I love, and of course the color black. It's my favorite color, everyone says if you like the color black you must be goth or something but its not true. Its 'the color of death' and other things but black is a nice color, goes with everything. I love playing minecraft, drinking iced coffee, wearing my combat boots, and color guard. I thought the photo with the enderman breaking through the computer is funny. Makes a cute wallpaper.

Animals, Initials, Masking, and Textures
When doing the Animals, Initials, Masking, and Textures project, I had a hard time choosing what animal to do. I designed and sketched out a few details and finally decided on a giraffe. The M looked like little animal legs so I chose the M as legs. The L seemed like a long neck so thats where I got the idea. The H kind of looked like a snout or nose of some kind so I used the H. When working with this, the adding layers and textures to the letters was difficult, but using the brush tool is very fun. I hope to do more projects using the brush tools.
